Rainbow Camp provides a Christian experience for children ages 7-11 years of age, who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. The camp provides a secure “re-creational” environment for children and respite care for families compromised by HIV/AIDS. The week is a time for renewal in the beautiful farmland surrounding the Bishop Claggett Center just south of Frederick Md.
Rainbow Camp began in1995 and has continued annually. The number of campers has increased over time. Most campers come from the inner city of Baltimore.

Program highlights include swimming, chapel, art and crafts, sports, interactive games, story telling, field trips, challenge ropes course and campfire. The staff is made up of dedicated and skilled volunteers. Support for the program comes from several parishes including St. Matthias, St. Bartholomew’s, and St. Phillips in the Diocese of Maryland. Counselors are 18 years of age or older; many are college students in Maryland.
Campers are referred from HIV/AIDS service providers in Maryland including AIDS Interfaith Residential Center, Chase-Braxton Clinic, AIRS, Baltimore Pediatric HIV Center, Back to Basics, Jacques Initiative of the University of Maryland.
